1. An elderly woman who was crossing the road was knocked down by a motorcyclist.

6. A large ok tree stood in the garden, casting its shade over the house.
7. Although it was rather cold a few people were lying on the beach, sunbathing.
8. The hotel could only offer me a small dark room that faced north.
9. Because of the heavy rain, the river was flowing much faster than normal.
10. He couldn’t see me because he was facing the other way.

1. They had redecorated the kitchen. They had painted the house. They had built a garage. They had made a wall around the house. They had planted many flowers in front of the house.
2. We had had our breakfast. We had packed our clothes. We had called g taxi. We had closed all the windows and doors. We put our luggage in front of the louse.
3. Many tourists had arrived there. The weather had been better. Many flowers had bloomed. Many kinds of fruits had been ripened.
4. We had bought the tickets. Most of the audience had entered the theater and taken their seats. The lights had been turned off. The curtains had been drawn.
5. The room had not been cleaned. The furniture had been moved to one side. Wine had been bought. Food had not been cooked.
